Before her senior basketball season got fully underway, Jazman Bailey wanted to make her choice for the next level official: she’s headed to Blacksburg to become a Virginia Tech Hokie.

Fresh off another gold medal win at the FIBA 17U Worlds with Team USA, Jazman made her commitment to Virginia Tech official via social media, then spoke to Yahoo Sports about the decision. The deciding factor she said was Hokies coach Megan Duffy and her staff.

“It was Coach Megan. What I was looking for is getting to know me beyond basketball. Without her even having to say that, she asked me about my family and life outside of basketball,” Jazman said. “I have a great connection with all the coaches,” she said. “They made it very known that my role would be kind of everything. I won’t be alone, basically. I’ll have a lot of help and stuff like that.”

Virginia Tech is riding the strength of NCAA tournament appearances in five of the last six years, including last season under Duffy.
