It’s been a banner year for the Legynds 16U team and it culminated with the opportunity to compete among the best of the best at Nike EYBL’s flagship summer event: Peach Jam.

The weekend was filled with highs and countless standout performances.

Legynds took a loss in their first game, a 84-72 defeat to Mokan Elite but Marceles Duncan showcased his talent, continuing a breakout campaign with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Damonte Owens added 17 points, 5 boards, and 3 assists, and Dylan Betts and David Douglas each put up 12 points while Betts had 7 rebounds and Douglas had 7 combined rebounds and assists.

In the second game Legynds engaged in one of the toughest and most entertaining battles of the tournament, but ultimately fell to Team Why Not 54-51. Duncan led the way once again with a monster 24-point, 10-rebound double-double. Betts showed up huge as well with a double-double of his own, posting 13 points and 17 rebounds.

After back-to-back defeats, the Legynds players dug deep in their third game and pulled out their first win at Peach Jam, a
63-54 victory over Team United. Damonte Owens led the team to this win with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Duncan tallied 16 points, 9 rebounds, and tacking on a block and steal of his own. And Betts had a monster game — with a near triple-double: 17 points, 9 rebounds and 8 blocks.

The fourth game of the week saw Legynds drop a tough one 73-58 to Alabama Fusion, but they saw impactful performances from across the roster. Duncan added 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals to his stat sheet. While Betts added 14 points and 6 rebounds of his own and came up big defensively with a steal and 3 blocks. David Douglas tacked on 11 points, 3 boards, and 5 assists.

The weekend came to a close on a high note for the Legynds at Peach Jam. They stamped their name on the tournament with a victory by a final score of 80-59 versus Pro Skills. Duncan once again led the victory effort with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Betts picked up a double double with 15 points and 11 boards. Douglas had 14 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists and Caden Miller came in and put up 9 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Overall, Peach Jam was a wild ride for this squad but through it all they showed their ability to remain a team, flourish through losses, and found themselves on the right side of the competition on multiple occasions.
